This unique beauty I designed for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex after the fantastic news which broke during their Royal Tour of Australia 2018, and is traveling to Kensington palace by plane.
It's always exciting to hear that a couple are expecting a child, and you reminisce about the daunting things you felt about becoming a parent for the first time, mostly feeling joy for the happy couple. Everyone you talk to is an expert on the subject and you find yourself becoming public property, so to speak LOL!
I wanted to give a subtle nod to Meghan with stars and stripes fabric as well as Harry's HRH.
Long before a retailer developed a set of star wars bedroom furniture i had started planning my son's BIG BOY bedroom of the same theme. My creativity would evolve around a millennium falcon bedspread that i had bought on-line three years ago that had a hand applique look, and yes, i could of made it myself but by the time i'd finish it Dash would be a teenager LOL!
My search for items to use took me to KMART where i saw a round shelf that would be perfect to turn into my first piece of STAR WARS decor for my son's room
Although we see the hot air balloons almost everyday, it's always a treat to see more than the regular amount in the air during the Balloon Fiesta in the Hunter Valley. Grabbing my camera and toddler in arms we drove 20 seconds down the road to see them land at one of their preferential landing sites in Old North Road.
Day 3 of the 4 day fiesta
When i first moved to the Valley over 13 years ago we went up in a Balloon Aloft flight for our wedding anniversary, and since then we've always loved seeing them floating over the area we live in.
When i first saw the full baby mobiles of mini hot air balloons on Pinterest back in 2015, i...
Being a part of the Handmade Connect movement on Instagram and Facebook has been a positive part of my life. They're a fast growing Community with lots of help and support for all people and things handmade. This month they're showcasing makers during the month of march and i decided to get my brave face on and submit a short bio about myself about what i do and why i do it. Mainly because it's nice to put a face to the product, and i've been so busy raising my toddler at home that not many people know the facts behind the scenes.
What my Bio didn't divulge was how crazy busy my life is!
On Saturday the 30th Sept 2017 - Balloon Aloft hosted their first NIGHT GLOW event at Roche Estate (formally Tempus Two) in the Hunter Valley vineyards.
We didn't know what to expect being a first time event, but we hope that this event will now become a regular annual family outing, the ticketed event was completely SOLD OUT on-line and at the gate and everyone was in a happy mood.
We had a great night and positive feedback for my mobiles, sales spoke volumes for the love of my 100% handmade room décor mobiles.
All of my room decor mobiles are completely unique and boutique, please note i will not copy any other designs on-line, i will make my own mobiles of similar colors but will not make an identical replica of any other company's product.
How does the ordering process work for a custom order ?
Firstly, please note that we can only take custom orders through own website and NOT Ebay.
a) because they don't allow me to make sales outside of their website
b) because they don't allow me to take a deposit
c) because once the mobile is finished I have to publically list it and hope that the person who ordered it is the first person to buy it...
It's funny how things take off sometimes, no pun intended, I'm not the first person to make hot air balloon mobiles and won't be the last.
Many people send a few photos of their colour scheme / room and leave the designing and the sewing to me. Each step is communicated and the overall design has to be approved before I start sewing, once the final design is chosen an accurate costing will be worked out and a deposit of 50% required. We invoice via PayPal to your email address
It all started when a friend made one and sold a few on her market stall, I loved the concept and asked her to make one for my son, but in my eagerness to h...
